Subsail is magazine subscription software that sells, renews and fulfils issue-based subscriptions and memberships for independent publishers.
Dan Rowden, founder
Dan founded Subsail in late 2016 and still runs it. He is a web developer and magazine fan who started Magpile in 2012, then built subscription systems for Offscreen, Hello Mr. and Stack Magazines.
Subsail started so smaller publishers could sell direct to readers and fund issues from that revenue. Dan is originally from England and is based in Finland with his family. Steven Watson of Stack and Kai Brach of Offscreen advise.

How much does Subsail cost?
The first 20 subscriptions or memberships are free, with every feature and no card. After that, Mini is $19/month plus 5% of sales, and Regular is $49/month plus 1%. You can pay in USD, GBP, EUR or AUD.
Is there a minimum contract?
No. Plans are billed monthly and you can cancel anytime. Unused time in a cancelled month is not refunded.
Who will I work with?
Dan, the founder. Email [email protected] or book a demo. You set the account up yourself: products, payments and checkout, usually within minutes.
Can I bring existing subscribers?
Yes. Import from a CSV, or from Shopify, Big Cartel, WooCommerce or PayPal. Subscriptions you sold before joining are free of the sales fee.
